The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) in the UK has achieved Privy Council approval for the development and awarding of a new ‘Chartered Management Consultant’ designation. The new Chartered status will give professional recognition to management consultants, recognising those consultants who are at the top of their profession. In addition, it will give clients greater confidence in the services that they are buying and also provide firms with a pathway to Chartered recognition, thereby assisting in attracting and retaining high-calibre talent. A copy of the joint CMI and MCA press release is available here CMI Press Release
During the coming 12 months, the CMI will work with the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) and market stakeholders to develop the new Chartered standards for management consultants and define the pathways through which existing Certified Management Consultants (CMC) and Associate members may progress to Chartered status. These standards and pathways will set the competencies that will be needed for management consultants to achieve the new professional accreditation.
The IMCA has commenced contact with the CMI regarding the possibility of extending the new designation and pathways to Chartered status for current CMC and Associate members of the IMCA in Ireland, perhaps by way of an appropriate amendment to the current reciprocal agreement between the IMCA and the CMI which was signed in July, 2017.
