POSITION OF SENIOR CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT
PRACTICE PROFILE
Our client is a small Chartered Accountancy practice serving the audit, accounting, taxation and wealth creation requirements of small and medium sized businesses and their owners. Their key differential is that although they are small in size, they have a medium sized practice mentality.
In order to deal with the expansion of the business and volume of work, the Practice now wish to recruit a Senior Chartered Accountant.
THE POSITION
JOB TITLE: Senior Chartered Accountant
REPORTING TO: Practice Owner
ROLE OBJECTIVES: To provide advice, audit accounts and provide trustworthy information about financial records. This can involve financial reporting, taxation, auditing, forensic accounting, corporate finance, business recovery, accounting systems and processes.
Main requirements of position:
The ideal candidate will have full understanding of the following areas:
Audit • Ability to prepare a full audit file, conduct an audit and have up to date knowledge on all reporting regulations and standards. Accounting • Knowledge of double entry, audit exemption, parameters for micro, small, medium and large companies. Taxation • Fully conversant with Income tax, corporation tax, capital gains tax, capital acquisitions tax, payroll taxes and relevant contracts tax. • Knowledge of value added tax in relation to VAT on property would be beneficial. • Ability to explain in simple terms how a transaction is affected by different taxes. Company secretarial • Fully conversant with all standard aspects of company secretarial to include annual return deadlines and all compliance forms from incorporation to dissolution Business advisory • Ability to treat the finalisation of accounts as a starting point rather than an ending point. • Capable of analysing an idea or problem and provide an analysis of issues, potential solutions and a preferred option to suit the case Representation • Develop and nurture relationships with clients and can represent and augment the practice’s standing in securing new client work. • Dealing with existing or new clients as well as other networks that the practice are members of.

• Strong relationship management, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and comfortable dealing with multiple levels of seniority. • Ability to build collaborative relationships with clients and internal colleagues. • Deadline orientated with excellent organisation and time management skills. • Highly numerate and analytical with strong financial and budgeting expertise. • Excellent reporting and analysis skills. • Proven track record in relationship development and understanding of client objectives. • Personable, engaging, curious, professionally cynical, hungry to expand knowledge, ambitious with loads of common sense. • Motivated self-starter who is detailed, results and process oriented with a focus on effective and efficient improvements • Organised individual with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high performance standards • Superior problem solving and analytical skills and ability to work in a deadline oriented position and environment • Project management and organisation skills
Additional requirements:
• Economically minded – understands how to cost work and the value of same to clients. • Ability to keep WIP at a minimum, know how to set targets and bill regularly and profitably. • Workload management – can manage a varied workload to ensure the critical items are identified and dealt with in order of importance whilst also recognising the time required to finalise billable work. • Ability to work methodically and logically through problems on own initiative, outline all options available and suggest valuable solutions to client. • Ability to interact with other staff members to ensure that the workload management of the practice is effective. • Identifies additional revenue opportunities with existing clients or by introducing new clients to the practice. • Full knowledge of systems such as Tas, Sage, Relate, BRC, Drive, Thesaurus and has an interest and awareness of future technology. • Ability to summarise and communicate with perfect English grammar with internal colleagues and clients.
