Description:

Wallace Myers International is seeking to appoint an SME Business Consultant initially on a two-year contract to take responsibility for delivering and developing a range of business development support initiatives to small owner-managed, professional services organisations throughout Ireland. This is a brand-new role and the successful candidate appointed as a key stakeholder within the member services department.

The person appointed to this role will be responsible for continuing initiatives already begun and will also set up and manage further initiatives that extend what the organisation does to support small professional services firms in the areas of business development and efficiency.

Main Duties & Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will carry out the following duties and strategic objectives.

Develop long term plans for initiatives already commenced, get agreement on these plans and then action them and promote them to small owner-managed professional services firms.

Research matters and propose plans for new initiatives to support small practices, produce detailed plans, get agreement and then execute.

Develop new initiatives that will facilitate small practice firms to avail of new business opportunities currently being done outside of Ireland and work closely with Public Affairs to take advantage of changes that happen at EU and international governmental levels.

Monitor what other similar organisations are doing world-wide to support small professional services firms and propose initiatives that are proving to be successful elsewhere.

Liaise with Irish Government organisations, industry sector organisations and other bodies to open up opportunities for small firms.

Manage relationships with SME and other external representative bodies. Pursue and manage initiatives that arise out of these relationships.

Produce information in different formats to provide small firm owner-managers with guidance on business development and business transition matters.

Develop and deliver workshops and other information provision initiatives in order to support small firm practitioners to make their businesses more successful and sustainable.

Working with the organisation’s communications professionals to ensure sufficient promotion of small practice supports.

Act as Co-ordinator of any committee established to conduct research, develop tools or advise smaller firms on profitability issues, business development, environmental sustainability or similar practice or business-related issues.
Provide assistance to Directors as required.

Other responsibilities will include
Set up and run events for smaller professional services firms including an annual conference.

Set up and manage initiatives that promote the value of smaller firms.
Produce and make available to members a start-up kit for establishing a new firm.

Produce a plan and execute it to set up an SME mentoring programme.
Contribute to the published content.

Investigate the viability of establishing an online smaller firm forum.
Look at options to assist small firms with information technology development.

Qualification Level:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree required in a business discipline.
Required Experience:

At least 4 years’ professional experience of assisting enterprises to grow and develop their businesses.

Experience of working within a major business consulting organisation or an enterprise-focussed body and of supporting professional services firms to develop their enterprises is essential.

Experience and understanding of the development, assessment and implementation of growth strategies and business plans.

Good understanding of how small professional services firms – are effectively managed and developed.

A keen understanding of the financing, budgeting, cash flow and taxation elements of running a small business.

Knowledge of business marketing and how marketing plans are formulated.

Experience in writing articles, publishing bulletins and other publications.

Ability to write on business matters, proofread and edit documents in a timely manner.

Excellent PC skills specifically with Microsoft Office.

A high level of integrity and trust with confidential information.

An adaptable approach to work and an ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.

Approachable and demonstrating a collegial manner in all dealings.

A proven record of commitment to professional and client service excellence.

Good knowledge of the legal profession
